Hello Everyone! Hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and didn’t get sunburnt. Time for June’s newsletter. The picture this month is the poster from the independent movie I’m in called “David.” I play the dad of a Muslim boy who befriends a Jewish boy. It’s a film I’m very proud of for it’s message of tolerance and I’m happy to say it will premiere at the Brooklyn Film Festival this coming week. You can see the schedule at www.david-themovie.com. Also, some of you donated to the movie in the past and it’s such a “little train that could” that the producers are raising more funds to get into more festivals. On another note, I have some shows coming up in the LA area, Fresno and London in the coming month. I’m also in a documentary that premieres this month called “Just Like Us” about laughter in the Middle East, directed by my friend Ahmed Ahmed. Please check this film out as well. This is a picture of me with Hamed Haddadi, the Iranian basketball player who plays on the Memphis Grizzlies – check out his Facebook page. As you can see, he’s a little taller than me (truth be told I have him standing on the curb, but still he’s 7′ 2″.) Anyway, I had a chance to meet him this month during a show in Memphis and he was very nice. The coolest thing was to watch white southerners coming up to this Iranian man and go, “Haddadi! We love you man!” The guy’s an amazing ambassador for East/West relations! Made me a Grizzlies fan!

Well I might be getting older, but I still got it! This is a picture of me taken by Navid Narouzi during my recent DC show. I’ve gotta admit, I was a bit winded after all this, but was able to catch my breath and do the show. Thanks to all who came out and laughed with us.

This next week I’ll be the host on DearComic.com where anyone can go on and post questions, requests, whatever and I’ll answer them. Please check it out and let me know what’s on your mind. This is a cool new site that’s being launched and they’ve been nice enough to invite me to be one of the first comics on there so the more questions the better. It can be anything!

With the Persian New Year upon us (March 20th), I figured I’d get started by launching my new website. You can view the new look here www.mazjobrani.com. Let me know what you think about it. For anyone who remembers my old site, this one is definitely less ORANGE! Most importantly, the new site is mobile phone friendly, so you can take me with you wherever you go! Yay! Thanks to Say Em for designing the site.
Other than that it feels like it’s been a crazy year so far – from the earthquake in Japan to the protests in the Middle East. Speaking of crazy, what’s up with Ghaddafi? He’s so nuts he makes Ahmadinejad seem sane. The only person that makes Ghaddafi seem sane is Charlie Sheen. Any dictator who never bothered to promote himself from Colonel Ghadaffi to General Ghadaffi isn’t dealing with a full deck. I hope the people of Libya, Iran and the entire Middle East prosper and gain as much freedoms with as little bloodshed as possible.
